EFFECTIVE STRATEGIES FOR ENHANCING STUDENTS’ CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS IN EFL CLASSROOMS

This quasi-experimental study investigates the efficacy of integrated instructional strategies—Socratic questioning, problem-based learning, debate activities, and reflective journaling—in fostering critical thinking skills among 60 intermediate-level EFL learners over eight weeks. Pre-test/post-test scores from the Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal, alongside classroom observations and student feedback, demonstrate significant gains in analytical reasoning compared to a control group. Qualitative analysis reveals enhanced metacognitive awareness and discourse quality. These findings highlight the importance of multimodal pedagogies for developing higher-order thinking in language education.

THE ROLE OF CRITICAL THINKING IN ADVANCED LANGUAGE LEARNING

at the C1 level, language learners possess advanced linguistic skills but often need to move beyond rote memorization to achieve true communicative competence. This article explores how critical thinking enhances advanced language learning by fostering deeper comprehension, nuanced expression, and cultural adaptability among C1-level students. Using a mixed-methods study with 40 C1-level EFL learners, we investigated the impact of critical thinking activities (e.g., debates, problem-solving tasks) on linguistic accuracy, discourse competence, and learner autonomy. Results showed significant improvements in analytical writing (18.5%), oral argumentation (20.2%), and self-directed learning behaviors. Qualitative data revealed heightened engagement and confidence. This article synthesizes research on critical thinking and language acquisition, offering practical strategies for teachers to integrate these skills into advanced language classrooms.

РАЗВИТИЕ КРИТИЧЕСКОГО МЫШЛЕНИЯ В ПРОЦЕССЕ ИГРОВОЙ ДЕЯТЕЛЬНОСТИ

В данной статье рассматриваются теоретико-методологические подходы к развитию критического мышления у младших школьников посредством игровой деятельности. На основе анализа психолого-педагогических особенностей учащихся начальных классов обоснована целесообразность использования игровых технологий в образовательном процессе как средства активизации мыслительной деятельности. Выделены педагогические условия, обеспечивающие эффективность развития критического мышления: наличие проблемных игровых ситуаций, организация дискуссий, стимулирование анализа и аргументации. Приведены примеры игровых заданий, направленных на формирование логических операций, способности к оценке, обоснованию и принятию решений. Сформулированы выводы подчеркивают необходимость системного и методически обоснованного включения игровых методов в процесс преподавания в начальной школе.

This thesis analyzes the gnoseological (theory-of-knowledge) foundations of the philosophy of education in the development of human thinking. Gnoseology, as a discipline that studies the sources, forms, and process of attaining truth, provides the theoretical basis for education. The text highlights the integration of gnoseological approaches with modern pedagogical technologies, methods of developing critical thinking, the impact of epistemic cognition and epistemic emotions on scientific inquiry, as well as the role of Uzbekistan’s ethnodidactic heritage and the philosophical views of Eastern thinkers. Статья посвящена важности билингвизма в изучение иностранного языка. Билингвизм оказывает значительное влияние на развитие познавательных навыков и способностей детей. Кроме того, упоминается, что билингвизм помогает человеку повысить свое критическое и творческое мышление, что поможет помочь выучить язык эффективно и легко. Приведены некоторые примеры того, как билингвизм может оказать положительное влияние на улучшение языка и образование детей. Двуязычие играет важную роль в улучшении когнитивного развития детей. Исследования показывают, что дети, с раннего возраста подвергающиеся воздействию двух или более языков, развивают более высокие когнитивные способности по сравнению с монолингвальными сверстниками. Двуязычные дети часто демонстрируют улучшенные исполнительные функции, такие как решение проблем, контроль внимания и переключение задач. Процесс переключения между языками укрепляет когнитивную гибкость мозга, улучшая память и навыки многозадачности. Кроме того, двуязычие способствует развитию метаязыкового сознания, что помогает детям глубже понять структуру языка. Эта способность думать на нескольких языках не только способствует лучшей учебной успеваемости, но и помогает детям развивать более сильные социальные навыки. Несмотря на трудности, с которыми могут столкнуться двуязычные дети в процессе освоения языков, долгосрочные когнитивные преимущества перевешивают начальные сложности, что делает двуязычие ценным активом для их когнитивного и академического роста
